Mac OS X


Mac OS X is the latest version of the Mac OS operating system for Macintosh computers. This operating system was first issued in 2001.

Character "X" is the Roman number ten, which means, where this version is the successor of the operating system used previously, such as Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9. Some people read it as the letter "X" that sounded like "ex". One of the reasons why they menafsir such as a tradition to name the operating system is Unix-based with the ending "x" (eg, AIX, IRIX, Linux, Minix, Ultrix, Xenix).

Mac OS X Server is also released in 2001. Basically the server version is similar to the version standardnya, with the difference that the server version includes software for workgroup management and administration in large-scale computer. Example of additional features available for this version is the software to run functions such as SMTP, SMB, LDAP and DNS. Besides, how melisensinya also different.

Mac OS X operating system is using the BSD kernel, so some people say that Mac OS X included in the Unix family. It's interesting that this is the beauty of the OS looks for role models, so make another developer's desktop. [Reference?]
